mobyexplorer is not a free program. You have to buy a license/key to get it working properly (like putting passwords on your files - not folders).
I’m using it on my nokia 6233.. it works well.

Hmmm.. Haven’t tried any desktop websites (desktoptwo, YouOS). but tried it with youtube.. you can see the pics but cant play the files. (can’t play flash) so i’m thinking.. it may not work with desktop websites too. sayang….
check out user reviews on the 6233 on GSM arena (sa 6233 forum) to help you decide if 6233 ang replace mo sa n70 mo or another model. (11k-13k nalang to ngayon)

I was able to create a post on my blog using my 6233 (but with limited characters).
I was also able to open news sites.
Compressed lang talaga lahat.. kasi nga of the small screen.

Nokia 6233 sucks! i:
1. can’t post blog entries on blogger. you said download opera mini? would that let me enter friendsters? i can only go to the main page, but it doesn’t let me enter the friendster home page. it would just switch me back to the Friendsters login page.
2. also can’t watch live TV shows… I want video streaming so i could watch the local tv shows. heck, my casio portable tv’s far better than this (except that i have to wait 8 Hrs to have my batteries charged). im on Smart 3G post paid account, and i’m almost ready to switch to globe if i can’t find anything good with Smart. please help!!!

1. I haven’t tried posting on Blogger (although i have an account there). I’m using wordpress and wordpress has a site intended for mobile devices -m.wordpress.com. Upon checking over the net i found this: “Blogger Mobile lets you send photos and text straight to your blog while you’re on-the-go. Now i just don’t know how much it will cost you ok? so better check it out first (read everything before trying).
- yes.. almost everything works with opera mini. I have viewed my friendster accounts many times now. i have even approved testimonials using my phone.
2. Remember.. nokia 6233 can only play specific files like .sdp and 3gp files. now, smart offers live streaming but the file that is available in their site is an .rm (real media) file. Which will not work if you don’t have a real one media player which you cant install (yet) on your 6233.
Globe was offering free live streaming and users were able to watch ABS-CBN live streaming for some time but they’re not offering it anymore (i don’t know what happened). It was the only live streaming file that can be played on the 6233.
I’ll keep everyne updated when they are available..

1. Im planning to upgrade to a 2GB MicroSD (cause i’m losing space for my music files.) They say it would slow down my phone. Is that true? Would it, in turn take even much time to change music source/music files for the Nokia Multimedia Player than what i’ve been currently experiencing with my 1GB?. That’s what’s going on with my 1GB MicroSD. there’s this music folder that i have with almost 200 music files, and it would take me 10 to 15 seconds to choose that music folder.

why does my 6233 doesn’t accept an application with .jar as an extension. i have a friend who send a bible application to my unit but everytime i open it, the error message is: Invalid application, delete file?

Maybe that .jar application is not for s40 phones.
There are jar applications that are specifically made for s40 and s60 phones. some jar applications can run on both software.
Try using that on an s60 phone (ex. Nseries, 6600)

Mobyexplorer is a phone browser and more.. it lets you do stuff to your files such as protect or hide it (nice huh?)
Morange - it says its an all in one application that lets your receive email, rss feeds, as a messenger, etc.
Opera mini - is a tool that aids us in browsing the internet using our phone.

Make sure java script is enabled. Plus if its running of flash, you wont be able to view the page.

NOTE: Setting the brightness to 70% saves as much as 10% to 30% battery consumption IMO.I tried it on Nokia 6680 which has the brightness setting.

To date, there is now known retail (or underground) software that could unlock bb5 phones like the nokia 6233.
but i guess you can go to nokia and have it unlocked. I’m sure they can do this… But i don’t know if nokia will unlock it if its still locked to a network (Smart/Globe/Sun)

You can only view excel, word and pdf files when you open them via the nokia 6233’s “internet explorer” Or.. its like this.. send the file via email and then access your email using your phone then download the attachment.

Bluecam only works with a bluetooth adaptor(You can buy these ones on Cdrking for 320php)

I have bluetooth dongle of billionton and it says that it has a range of 100m but when I go keep the phone at a distance of about 15m it does not work and teh connetcion fails. Is it related somwhere to phone or there is really some problem with the dongle itself. Or the phone does not support that distance.

3. To Abrar , Man, you have lots of questions.. hehehe..
a. You can connect thru data cable, bluetooth or IR.
b. The range of the Bluetooth signal is affected by barriers.. wall, computers, buildings… or any objects.
c. Which is better bluetooth or data cable? of course data cable!
d. Internet connection speed - mine is 3++ kbps. Its dial up. Its faster than the old 56kbps =P. It still depends on your network provider if they offer higher connection speed.

b. use Yahoo Go! browse my blog for it.

When u make a call, go options and there u will find the option to record and thats how u can record call…

that is very strange because mine don’t have that problem. 6233 with firmware version 4.91.
6233 Memory Full Problem
Have been installing themes and games onto my 6233.
I now have a problem. I installed one theme, and half-way through, it stopped, saying ‘Not enough memory’.
Now the problem is that I barely have any free memory left on the phone.
Under Memory Status -> Phone Memory -> Free Memory it is always between 20kB to 80kB. I have moved all my media to the memory card, moved all images,music, I have deleted all messages, removed majority of applications and games, and moved all my contacts to SIM. I have emptied my calenders. Therefore there is hardly anything on the phone’s memory.
The phone is still showing the memory as between 20kB to 80kB depending on if I restart the phone.
It seems something that I cannot access has clogged up all the memory and is not letting it go? How can I get my memory back?

hi i have had the same problem but i think it is due to when your battery gets down to about half full because mine was doing it couldn’t install any themes no matter what size then plugged the phone into the power socket then tried again and all the themes would install so i think this could be the problem.

the collection folder shows 1.7gB!!!
then I get into the folder
the catalog folder is empty and there’s a file in there

i’ve upgraded the firmware to 4.91
i’ve backed up and restored my phone memory
i’ve tried the mobimb and i couldn’t delete the files but the they showed up as HUGE files and that might be why there is like NO internal memory left on my phone.

I have the same problem.. I have tried deleting everything that the phone will allow me to delete, and I mean everything! how much memory it tells me I am using has gone right down to 621kb but I still have no free internal memory (0kb) so can’t send text messages or do much on it.
Its supposed to have 6MB internal memory!
I’ve tried backup & restore using nokia PC suite… didn’t change anything.

I went to some local Asian phone store and they re-flashed it for me and everything was formated BUT so were the authentication certificates! So I couldn’t open programs like gMail.. I’m going to put this phone on eBay. =(

All depends on a theme. I have a theme on 1.5 Mb which works normally, and there is a theme on 1.3 Mb of which no enough memory is always

that is very strange because mine don’t have that problem. 6233 with firmware version 4.91.

I had the same problem.
I used pc suite to back up my phone mem only
then restored it staight afterwards
then all the mem was back to how it was before.

Guys, this is one essential problem with 6233 firmware!
In phone memory there are two INVISIBLE!!! drawers called something like THEMES PREVIEW and THEMES ACTIVE or so.
They are for temporary and active files of the themes loaded and used (GIF pictures etc.).
So if you play a bit more with themes, these drawers are becoming full of fragments of old used and previewed themes. Thanks to firmware, user doesn’t have any chance to clean these drawers. And that it is - less and less room in phone memory.
SOLUTIONS:
1. Firmware upgrade - every upgrading process cleans phone memory!
or
2. ContentsCopier in PCSuite - backup and than restore - Restoring process cleans phone memory too!
or (and the most simple)
3. MobiMB software - this one shows those invisible drawers and you can clean them than!

i have the same problem with the Nokia 6234, nothing on the internal memory but can not send txt messages with out gettting a warning message to say there is not enough memory, i have had to clear everything off the internal memory just to send a text.
It is as if when i delete something it does not release the memory back to the pool.
ANy help would be appreicated

No, the theme that I currently have installed is the default Nokia one - around 78kB. The smallest theme I have!!
No other themes can be installed because there simply isnt enough room!
Any ideas/help??

If you want to apply new themes, just open it from your Memory card (make sure it still has at least 3 MB free). I have no ideas why s40 3rd Edition always show “Memory Full” (even if you deleted all Gallery/Application files)

I have the same problem. My phone is a nokia 6233 with a 64 MB microsd card. Actually I have in Settings->Phone->Memory Status: Phone 355Kb Memory card 26.5 MB If I click “Phone” I have: Free Memory 68.0 kB Messaging 0 kB Applications 354 kB Bookmarks 0.8 kb I can’t update theme on my phone! When I try to do it my phone shows the message “Not enough memory” Is there any way to clean out memory phone? Try turning your phone off.. remove the battery, remove your sim. then put them back on after 5 mins and turn it on.
If this doesn’t work, try re-installing or upgrading your firmware.

I’m new at your site. Actually I own a nokia 6288 phone. My problem right now is that when I set my network setting to dual meaning I can access both the 3G network and the GSM network, I’m not able to send text messages and make a call. But when I’m on GSM i can make a call and send text messages. Before on dual mode a was able to call abd send text messages. I think this has to do when I opened my bluetooth to accept a video clip from a friend somehow I got infected by a virus that has created problem with me when im on 3G network. do you have any good anti-virus that can remove this? I have read before that a virus has attacked bluetooth enable phone but most of the research I have done in the web regarding mobile phone virus does not have the same behavior as mine. I have als checked with SMART rearding any problems with 3G any they are saying that no down time has been reported. i think my system was corrupted by the virus. thanks in advance for your help

Smart will always say that they don’t have a reported downtime when in fact they do.
6288 is a s40 v3. meaning it cant be infected by a virus that normally affects symbian phones. What you can do is to turn off the phone.. remove the battery and the sim for about 2-3 minutes. put it on again.
If the problem persists, restore the factory settings of your unit. (find restore factory settings) But before doing that, make sure you back up all your data and files. You can use the nokia PC suite to help you out on this.
If everything fails, bring your handset to smart (if you bought it from them) of to the nearest nokia service center.

I think after installing another theme, the great calculator has disappeared from my phone. Using the quick launch mode also indicates: application not found. Probably theres no clear explanation so my question is rather simple. Do you know how i can get a new calculator on my phone.

I think its because of your theme.. You see themes are also programs… But have you tried returning to the default theme? coz the calculator should come back. If it doesnt, i guess there’s something wrong with your phone then.

(By the way, I’m a big fan of 6200 series, and probably 6233 is the best one I’ve ever used). Just look for “Tinybook”, which allows e-text reader books to be read. I’m fully aware that theres a new firmware version… but as i’ve said in one of my comments here, i don’t like to upgrade because the updates of the new firmware are not that significant..
Unlike when i upgraded from v3.70 to 4.91 which added A2DP support on my phone.
So I suggest that you only upgrade to v5.10 if your using version v3.70.

I think you have a problem with your firmware.. what firmware version are you using?
Try this:
1. restore factory settings of your phone.
2. use mobile media browser to check the contents of your phone and free up some memory
