Rosas Pandan sung by Foreign choirs

October 5, 2007

Tigadong tigadong tigadong
Ayay usab si Dodong
Nagtan-aw kang Inday
Nagtabisay ang laway

I love that line from the song Rosas Pandan, A Cebuano folk song about a pretty mountain maid who loves to dance the balitaw.

I was surprised to see and hear foreign choirs performing with this song.

This song (actually a remake) became popular last year when a version came out which was supposedly made by Ali Sotto. I’m sure most of you has heard of this. If not, well, you can google around for it. Just type “Tigidong”.

By the way, the choir on the first video is the Himig Singers, A Davao  based chorale group. They will be going to Indonesia this November to compete for the  1st Asian Choir Games.

I think this was the song that the Himig Singers sang during the last/farewell session of the 14th Davao City Council.
