Laguna de bay – world’s biggest septic tank

2007 October 10

The Philippines has a new world record.

ABS-CBN News reports that Laguna de bay is now the world’s biggest septic tank. This is according to Laguna Lake Development Authority (LLDA) general manager Ed Manda.

He also added that illegal settlers are the major pollutants pouring 80% domestic waste into the bay!

(from Pinoy Travel Blog)

When the bay gets so polluted, those illegal settlers will either find another place or stay there. If they opt to stay, then they’ll be prone to diseases.. then they’ll blame the government. Nice move guys! hahhaha

I do hope those in government do something about this problem. Not only with Laguna de bay.. but for other bodies of water here in the country.

Good thing water in Davao and its neighboring provinces are still clean!

I could blame our government. They’re suppose to run our country, serve our people, and protect our natural resources. We pay huge taxes to them to bulid their large mansions and vacation houses, luxury vehicles, trips abroad etc, etc…
And when this country turns upside down, they’ll just pack their bags and leave for where their foreign bank accounts are!
If not for our loveones, I might go crazy thinking the chaos and out of order of this my beloved country!

i live near Laguna Bay. It’s so yucky.. You can see floating plastics, diapers, panties, napkins, and whatsoever. And cause of that are the PASAWAY residents near the bay. They must leave there! They are uneducated they didn’t know what will happen (Global Warming?)

Municipal mayors around this lake should take action and work hand in hand in order to protect and restore the lake. Forget about DENR, they’re only busy giving certificates to questionable businessmen…Laguna Lake Authority, is this really an existing government agency???????????????????????

You know what??? Those illegal settlers you are referring are genuine filipino citizens unable to educate themselves because the government’s main aim is not to serve its citizens, instead, the big investors around the lakeshore, and in order to free them from public criticism these investors collborate with the government in order to divert the eyes of the people’s scrutiny. YES! it id true that the settlers are contributing waste to the lake, but what??? where will they go? they had been pushed to the brink of poverty. If the government is hell serious about solving poverty, then, first of all it will free the lands, lakes from big landlords and fishpen owners, the laguna lake is now 90% privatized. WHERE the HECK have you seen a lake in the world owned??? of course, no doubt Ignacio Bunye and other helldwellers own thousands of hectares in the lake…
Well, think deep, don’t just look at the tip of the iceberg, because what is in the bottom is bigger…

I live in Laguna and I can tell you there is no public sewage system and not only the fish but all the millions and millions of ducks that provide runoff not treated at all goes right into the lake. The people there spend an average of 10-20 pesos’ a day if they have that much to eat. I always have people that are trying to get into our breakfast, lunch and dinner that’s when they come around man it drained me I had to come back to the US and work again even though I live on a pension there, there are no jobs in Laguna and the pay if you get one is $2-3 if your lucky.
