N77: Problems…

2007 December 26

As with other phones, problems or issues are normal. There’s no perfect phone.

So, here are some problems that I’ve encountered in using the Nokia N77.

  • Hard to remove (or open):
  1. The battery cover – my fingers keeps sliding.
  2. Detaching the battery from the unit.
  3. Removing/replacing the SIM card
  4. Removing the microSD lid.
  5. Detaching the microSD from the unit.

  • Phone charging by itself

I charged the phone for 20 minutes. I unplugged the charger from the phone.

After 5 minutes, I heard the phone beep. I thought i received a text message. I didn’t check the phone right away. When i looked at my phone i didn’t saw anything. After 3 minutes i heard another beep. Checked it and i saw “Battery Full”. Then i heard another beep.. and it displayed “Charging”.

It only stopped when I restarted the phone.

  • You’ll be able to see the messages in your SIM. But only a summary list. You won’t be able to read them/completely view the message.
  • The phone restarts if you switch from one network mode to another ( 3G to GSM or vice versa)
  • Though i have experienced getting some kind of “memory low” error. It happened when multiple applications are simultaneously active then i opened myTV.

“Mobile TV uses a large amount of device memory to store the program guide. The device attempts to update the program guide periodically even if Mobile TV is not on.”

  • Confusing buttons

When playing a song, the

  • Replay function is of the mobile TV is OK.. but i hope they increase the replay time. It only shows the previous 5 seconds (i think) of the program
  • Limited DVBH coverage.

Here in the Philippines, there are only selected areas where there is a DVBH signal.

  • Unlike S40 phones, the N77 stores so many files in its memory. For example, pictures. When you take a picture and save save it, it will create other files for thumbnail viewing.
  • Battery problems

It easily runs out of battery when using the phone as Modem to surf the internet.

Also, the battery is quicker to drain if you are not using the unit.

  • The ultimate problem with the N77…. Its SLOW.

Most of the time, you’ll experience a delay when opening the menu or opening an application.

    Aaron and rodin…

if your saying reinstall the firmware.. then just use the nokia PC suite.

If you want to completely “flash” the unit.. as in wipe out everything.. you can download a software for BB5 phone over the internet Check out forums..

I have a problem with my Nokia N77 dont know the reason why.
When I use to go to gallery, Images and Video, my phone does not show all the images and videos to my Memory Card. But the Music will play both phone memory and card memory. I just wonder why. When I check the memory datails it has 70% free memory. Please tell me what to do. thanks.

    Joseph,

When did this happen? Only recently? Maybe u have installed something that caused this.

try resetting the factory settings. But remember to do a backup of your files first.

Also, check the memory card, use it on another unit and check if its working.

If everything fails, visit the nearest nokia service center
