Mobile Phone: Application access set to not allowed

2007 December 27

I have received a number of inquiries (or should i say complaints?) from cellphone users (not just 6233 users) regarding this message: “application access set to not allowed”.

When you are opening an application on your phone and this message appears, it means that the application is trying to access your phone’s contents and you haven’t allowed it to do that.

So how do you solve this?

Easy… allow the application to access your phone..

How?

  1. Go to the application (don’t open it).
  2. Click OPTIONS
  3. Choose APPLICATION ACCESS
  4. Choose DATA ACCESS
  5. Choose ADD EDIT DATA
  6. Then set it to “ask every time”

That should do it.

If you still experience errors, then that’s another problem :p

The problem is most likely caused by hidden settings added by the service provider you bought the phone from. In my case the option to change aplication acess is actualy grayed out because of T-Mobiles branding on the phone. The only way to fix this is to get the service provider or a qualified phone modder to “debrand” the device. In debranding they either use special codes or flash the firmware to revert it back to Nokia factory defaults without the crap and limitations put there by the service providers. Quite frankly selling phones that have had factory abilities disabled should be illegal.

How do I debrand my phone Nokia 6086 to the original factory settings in such a case when they don’t allow me to give access to an application like KD player which is just a music player?
