Globe VOIP service

Scenario: Walang Mobile phone signal pero may internet connection.

That’s what we are experiencing right now dito sa office namin sa kabundukan.  Wala kaming signal ng globe for the past 5 days na. Technical problems daw sabi ng globe. Globe lang kasi ang may signal dito.

So pano ang text ang call?

For texting, we use Chikka and sometimes Yahoo Messenger.  Eh pag calls? Pc to Pc calls, we use YM or Skype. Same with PC to Cellphone calls.

Eh pano naman mag Cellphone to PC? hmmmm.. Sabi ng Globe, posible!

Globe has this service called G-Webcall.

The G-Webcall service uses one of the newest mobile innovation which is VOIP or Voice Over Internet Protocol. VOIP allows calls using the internet to any Globe or Touch Mobile number from anywhere in the world. Calls to other networks are not yet available at this time.

Call any globe/TM subscriber for only P7.50  per minute. Or call a G-webcall user for Free. I’m still checking with Globe how much it costs to call from a mobile phone to PC.

Here’s how much yahoo and skype are charging (domestic calls – meaning using these services to call any number within the Philippines):

Yahoo Phone out (Yahoo Voice):

Philippines = $0.159 (x 42.00 = 6.68)

Philippines, Mobile = $0.199 (x 42.00 = 8.36)

Skype out:

Philippines = $ 0.228 (x 42.00 = 9.58)
Philippines – Mobile =  $ 0.286 (x 42.00 = 12.oo)

Its cheaper to call using Yahoo voice. But you need to buy credits. Unlike Globe’s G-webcall, the cost is deducted from your load/ is included in your bill.

However:

• you can only call or receive calls from globe/TM /G-webcall numbers. Which is not a problem with me coz we majority of my contacts are Globe subscribers. =D
• You cant call a landline number.

This service is intended talaga for those with loved ones abroad. Kasi cheap lang ang calls. Kesa regular calls.

I’ve already tried this service.. and so far so good.. And i only use this service for urgent matters and pag wala sa YM yung gusto kong kausapin. =>
