What do you do with a 5 mega pixel camera…

Well, Point and SHOOT!

GSM Arena and Phone Arena tested the N95’s camera along with other 5 mega pixel camera mobile phones.

Lets first take a look what they have to say for the N95.. Then check out my my opinion.

GSM Arena had the “Grand 5 mega pixel showdown“.

A test between mobile phones with 5 mega pixels camera - Samsung G600, JG KU990 Viewty, Nokia N95 8B, Sony Ericsson k850, Nokia N82.

The N95 won in may categories but failed in the following:

  • Resolved detail - N95 7/10
  • Dynamic Range - N95 6/10
  • Color Accuracy - N95 7/10
  • Internal Processing - N95 8/10
  • Exposure and Focus - N95 9/10
  • Lens - N95 7/10
  • Flash - N82 9/10 - the N95 was only 2/10
  • ISO test - N95 6/10
  • Macro - Went to LG Viewty - 9/10 (because it has a more advanced Compression But both Viewty and N95 , which scored 6/10, has the same video specs - VGA 30fps.
  • Video - Went to LG Viewty with 10/10 score while the N95 had 8/10.
  • Camera Interface - 6/10 -went to LG Viewty and SE K850 -7/10 while the N95 was only a notch down.

Meanwhile, Phone Arena had their own showdown, the GSM Cameraphone Comparison.

Phone Arena added two Samsung phones. The G600 and G800.

  • Outside/ normal environment - G600 performed better than the rest. And the others except for the LG Viewty was at par with each other.
  • At night - The n82 is also the winner same as the findings of GSM Arena. unfortunately, the N95 was at the bottom of the list.
  • Flash - Again the n82 was th sure winner. But the N95 was not far behind.
  • Macro - The n95 was at par with the N82 while the other phones were left behind.

As for me.. I find the Nokia N95 a great camera phone! I’ve been using my Nokia 6233 (2 mega pixels) to snap pictures and with some editing and enhancements, the results are good. I’ve also tried the N77 which has better picture results than the 6233. Still it needed some enhancements to give out the best in the picture.

Bu with the N95, i don’t need to subject the pictures to enhancements. Its the best that i have seen. I can’t say that its the best out there.. but hey, why settle for more and pay for when you can get this for less the price right?

Plus, the N95 has a fast shutter (Shutter speed: Mechanical shutter: 1/1000~1/3 s)

Here are some pics:

Now i wanna show you the difference in the picture quality between the phones that i have used and would help you guys decide to get the 5 mega pixels phone or stay with your 2 mega pixels phone.

  2. Dear Mig,

Thanks for the information. I heard that N95 8GB is far better than the original n95 in both processor speed and battery time. I also heard that it lags a bit less and doesn’t hang too often like the original n95. Can you confirmed that?

I will be waiting for your thoughtful response as usual.

  3. Kamal,

Based from user experiences in forums that i have read, the answer is Yes.. the 8GB is better due to a higher processor.

With regards to the batteries, i can’t confirm that. There are several factors that would result in a quick or slow battery consumption.

  6. I think based on the different reviews that i have read, and based on my experience, the N95 is still a good camera Phone. But if you want a better one.. use the N82.. It beats all other phones when it comes to camera and photos.

  7. The N95 has to be the best all around device. Everything works well. It’s hard to imagine a device that small has all the modern day gadgets built in
