LTO SMS Service

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) recently launched an SMS/text messaging service to help check the registration details of a vehicle.

Back then, you’d either have to go to an LTO office and fill-out documents for you to be able to get info about a vehicle or had to know someone from inside to cut red tape – faster processing.

Now, these infos are just “one text away”.

To get info about the vehicle, send the following to 2600:

 LTO<space>VEHICLE<space>PLATE Number

ex: LTO VEHICLE AAA123

You will get the following response:

Plate Number:  AAA123
Make:  <maker/brand>
Color: <color of the vehicle>
Registered last: <when the vehicle was last registered>
Has no LTO apprehension <if it has no records. I don’t know what it will say if it has violations>
Has no LTO alarm <if its not a hot car>

P2.50 per text message.

You could also check for license details.

 LTO<space>VEHICLE<space>11 digit license number

Now this is verrrrry helpful in making inquiries faster.. and if you are buying a second hand car, you can now verify the details first fast and easy.

As you can see from the above info,  no name or address was given. So invasion of privacy is not an issue here.
