UPDATE: Internet mobile browsing – P5.00 for 15mins

2008 April 5

At last!

Globe has dropped their mobile browsing rates! A service that has been dominated by smart for a loooooooooooooong time!

Globe now offers P5.00 for 15mins when using your phone to surf the internet or use it as a modem!

You have two options:

  • KB Browsing Rate
This kind of charging is best for info-based browsing like browsing for the latest news or movie schedules, searching online dictionaries and checking sports stats. Since you are charged only P0.15/kb, a search for the definition to a puzzling word would only cost P2.30 while checking that movie schedule would only cost about P1.62.
  • Time Browsing Rate
This charging scheme is best used for multimedia-based activities like sending and receiving files through email or even viewing pictures and videos. All these are done more affordably when you use Time Charging at P5 for 15minutes.

ok.. so that’s the good news… the bad news is..

  • Not applicable to subscribers on Data Plans (i.e. Visibility).

Comment: It just made Globe’s Visibilty even more expensive!

  • Time Browsing rate effective upon receipt of text confirmation.

Comment: Why is there a need for a text confirmation? Because Globe will limit the subscribers/users.. Unlike smart which can accommodate most (not all ok) users.

  • Succeeding connections will be charged P5 for 15 minutes. If disconnected within the 15 minutes, reconnection will be considered a new session charged at P5.

Comment: HUWAAAAAAAT? If i get disconnected, and i reconnect, then i’ll be charged another 15.00???????????? Dear oh dear… When i use smart, i get disconnected, and it’s not my fault.

with Smart’s P10.00 per 30 mins, you can reconnect within the 30 minute period without any additional cost.

I think one reason behind this is Globe doesn’t want smart to think that they are copying their plan/promo.

  • Globe Prepaid and Postpaid subscribers are by default on the KB Charging scheme. If you want to try out Globe’s new TIME charging scheme, all you need to do is to text TIME to 1111 for free!

To shift back to KB Browsing: text KB.
To check the charging scheme that currently applies to your account: text STATUS. Send the keyword to 1111 for free.

Comment: At least its free to switch.

….at least there’s some competition (at least..)

What types of connections can you use?

Nice when you’re using 3G huh?

    Othello jess,

subscribe to packet data first may mean a lot of things

    1. incorrect settings on your phone
    2. no load
    3. network problem
    4. you have the settings but your using the wrong one.

call 211 and ask the Globe customer service rep.

Ingat lang mga bro, nagamit ko yun service nila using my wife’s 6230, ang bilis, pero problem di ko nai register muna sa time base, so nagamit ko ng 1 hour 8 mins and then globe is charging me Php 4,226.73. My God ano to holdup. Saka di naman nila nilinaw sa advertisement nila na per kb nila kwentahin dapat automatic na i time base nila sino ba naman sira ulo magbabayad ng 4k for 1 hour used. Diba misleading yun…

had the same problem. i tried this service using p1i as my modem. i initially used the per kb charging. thinking na ko naman gagamitin ng pangmatagalan itong service. i was connected for 1.5 hours. i just answered my emails, browse fora i am a member of and read my friends’ blogs. after that, i shifted to the time browsing option because i was satisfied with the service. then my billed arrived…and its 11k. i called up their customer service ksi i computed naman should i pay,e mga di naman lalagpas ng 4k dapt. hhhmmmm….something fishy.

my mom is planning to discontinue n lng ung plan nya sa globe.. my fault also. sumama ang loob nya dhil sa bill nya n internet browsing lng ang nkapataas… 4 thou something for 3 to 4 hours.. isnt that unfair.. ginamit ko kc sa visibility ko ung sim nya syempre i feel guilty and galit ako sa globe. sabi ko nga b4 kung ako naging terrorist pasasabugin ko network nila hehe.. wel bad joke i know. pero saklap lng talga mabiktima ng .15 per kb n yan bat kc kailangan p mg reg sa time 1111 sana automatic n un. bago lng me gumagamit ng visibility at sobrang bagal p ng connection intermittent p. tapos ganon ung bills.. sobrang expensive.. nakakahighblood.. pano n lng ung ibang di alam ung advertisement nila sa charging.. lalo ung sa visibility mas expensive pa pla.. ngtanong ako sa globe nung binili ko un sabi pwd raw isalpak kahit anong sim ng globe prepaid or postpaid.. d nmn nbanggit ung time based saka ung kb charging grrr. sabi ko nga wag n lng bayaran un abusado eh. profit kc nsa utak eh walang paki sa customer satisfaction.
