June 18, 2008

Sun Cellular will be rolling out its new International Roaming SIM which will enable its subscribers/users to send text messages to 20 countries for only P1.00!

Yes, you read it right.. one peso per text!

Sun Cellular will charge P1 per international text to 20 destinations, including the US, Brunei, Macau, Singapore, United Arab Emirates (UAE), Oman, Hong Kong, Spain, Malaysia, Turkey, Cyprus, Japan, Guam, Canada, Cayman Island, Hawaii, Jamaica, Qatar, Bahamas and Puerto Rico.

Plus..

For voice calls, Sun Cellular will impose a charge of $0.20 per minute to Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, UAE, Japan, Taiwan, Bahrain, Spain, Australia, France, Italy, Sweden, Greece, Jordan, South Korea, Indonesia, Marinas Island, Cyprus, Israel, India and Germany.

This is after the National Telecommunications Commission gave regulatory approval for SUN’s planned SIM (subscriber identification module) card for international text and call services.

There are other services of SUN that you might want to avail. Like their $0.10 calls:

Sun IDD 10 offers US$ 0.10 per minute IDD rate for every call made only to US, China, Hong Kong, Canada, Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, Brunei, Guam, and Macau.

By the way, check out SUN cellular’s enhanced website.

    Hi,

First, they offered $0.10 per min international calls, now 1php per text? Nice strategy to keep certain users from moving out. Including me ;D

This will eventually rollout some new subscribers to them, hope the network will not clump out with these new offers.

    - Thanks for the tip Kuya MiGs!

    Hi,

My comment is not related to this post.
Two new E-series phones were officially announced – E71 and E66. It would be nice to have you cover them, and if possible, review both of them :) http://events.nokia.com/default.htm

    Keep up the great blog,
    Rohan.
